Negreanu Beats Reid on PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge

Nov. 21, marked the second to last episode of the season for the “Million Dollar Challenge. Ray Reid who’s the show’s challenger told host Chris Rose that he intends to use any money earned to turn his life around and help his father erect a church, Party Poker Bonus.

Reid faced off alongside celebrity defender Gary Payton in the first round. The match Payton lasted all of one hand. Then, pro defender Barry Greenstein was the next contender who’s a three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. Similar to the match against Payton, Reid’s encounter with Greenstein was shortened. For beating the pro, Reid pocketed $25,000. He was then faced with a tricky decision: take the cash andleave or risk his payday for a $100,000 match next to Negreanu and a shot at $1 million, Party Poker Review.

His friends and family told him that the show wasn’t called the “$25,000 Poker Challenge” and persuaded him to go for broke. Reid agreed to set up a heads-up showdown with Negreanu. Reid committed what was left of his chips before the flop with 6-3, but ran into Negreanu’s 7-6 and could not improve when the board came 2-5-10-A-Q. However, he still obtained a $5,000 trip to the Bahamas for his efforts.
